I just sent a quick note to the Maclean Foundation asking for permission to use John’s image in my post. I got a quick reply saying it’s okay to do so.
I have enormous respect for this guy. Accomplishing a feat like swimming across the English Channel without a functioning legs or going for a triathlon race wasn’t feats anyone could do.
He reminded me of Cliff Young, another inspirational athlete from Australia who did the unthinkable.
Both men deserved a name in the record book, not only because of what they’ve achieved but also for who they’ve inspired.
