Invictus, poem for soldiers

Have you heard of the poem Invictus? This is very famous poem during the World War since it was memorized by almost every Allied soldiers:

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

An amazing piece of poetry – perhaps trashed down by a terrorist (T. McVeight)

    Canary Joe,

I agree with you. I guess William Ernest Henley wouldn’t have guessed that his poem would be used by McVeigh as a final statement.

I think McVeigh was trying to say that even though he was a patsy and victim of MK Ultra, used by the govt to carry out govt sponsored terror, his soul was still his. The govt couldn’t take that from him.

I’m not saying McVeigh was blameless, he most likely was part of the program willingly, much like the fictional character in the Bourne Identity. But he without question was the patsy. There were unexploded bombs found in the building. The blast from the truck did not take out that building. The other man in the truck was never apprehended. Why was Timothy McVeigh frothing at the mouth and why did he keep saying “get the chip out of me” when he was arrested?

Why did the most of the FBI stay home the day of the bombing? Who tipped them off? In hindsight, it doesn’t matter, were far beyond the police state now. With 9/11 and 7/7 and who knows what the next govt staged terror will be. The police grid is in place, we are all slaves now. The only question is who will be man enough to stand up and fight.
